RedHat is The Linux distribution. Definitely one of the easiest to install and use with its RPM (RedHat Package Manager), which allows easy installation, upgrade or uninstallation of packages. RedHat 6.0 comes with Gnome, KDE, the Apache web server, Netscape Communicator, and a huge selection of other programs and utilities. Red Hat is one of the top selling distributions at the moment.

Linux Mandrake combines the power of Unix-based systems with the flexibiliy of a very powerful graphical Desktop-manager: KDE. It also includes many other graphical desktops like Gnome, AfterStep, WindowMaker, IceWM, FVWM...
It comes with the famous Apache Web Server, the Gnu Image Manipulation Program Gimp, Netscape Communicator and lots of other excellent software.
The Linux Mandrake version numbers usually correspond to RedHat ones: Linux -Mandrake 6.x is 99.99% compatible with RedHat 6.x!
